Non-equilibrium dissociation of nitrogen

چکیده
Dissociation rates of molecular nitrogen in electrical discharges have been calculated by solving a system of master equations, including V-V (vibration-vibration), V-T (vibrationtranslation) and e-V (electron-vibration) energy transfers. The results show that the dissociation rates slightly increase with decreasing gas temperature in the temperature range 1 000-2 000 K at the electron temperature Te = 20 000 K and electron density ne = 1012 cm-3. In these calculations, dissociation rates are two orders of magnitude greater than the corresponding rates obtained by direct electron impact. Quasi-State-Specific QCT Method for Calculating the Dissociation Rate of Nitrogen in Thermal Non-Equilibrium
The dissociation of nitrogen was studied using a quasi-classical trajectory (QCT) analysis in the context of calculating the dissociation rate surface for a dense range of temperatures for use in computational fluid dynamics (CFD) applications. By sampling rovibrational states from a Boltzmann distribution but uniformly sampling the relative speed, the dissociation rate was calculated for trans...
متن کاملNon-equilibrium dissociating nitrogen flow over a wedge
Experimental results for dissociating nitrogen flow over a wedge, obtained in a free-piston shock tunnel, are described. Interferograms of the flow show clearly the curvature of the shock wave and the rise in fringe shift after the shock associated with the dissociation. It is shown that the shock curvature a t the tip of the wedge can be used to calculate the initial dissociation rate and that...

Absorption of ultraviolet light energy by nitrogen dioxide results in its dissociation into nitric oxide and an oxygen atom. The oxygen atoms, for the most part, react with atmospheric molecular oxygen (O2) to form ozone (O3). In general, nitric oxide will react with ozone to reform nitrogen dioxide, completing the cycle. A buildup of ozone above the equilibrium concentration defined by the rea...
متن کاملQuantum mechanics investigation of acid dissociation constant of carboxylic acids in aqueous solution
According to the Bronsted definition, any compound which has a hydrogen atom is an acid, since itmay be lost as a proton. A thermodynamical cycle is proposed to calculate absolute pKa values forBronsted acids in aqueous solution. The equilibrium of dissociation of a Bronsted acid depends onthe interaction of the acid and its conjugate base with solvent molecules. There fore the pKa valuedepends...
